Clinical Services

Dr Milburn is trained to help children, adolescents, families and adults develop skills and insights for managing difficult emotions and challenging life transitions. The goal is to foster growth and insight for healthy psychological development.

It can be  anxiety provoking to think about sharing personal details of one's life with someone you don’t know whether you are a child, family, or adult.  In Dr Milburn's experience, when a respectful and collaborative approach is adopted through a shared dialogue, this discomfort is more manageable.

There are many reasons for seeking treatment including depression, anxiety, a personal crisis, the loss of a loved one, to name a few. Sometimes people come to treatment to sort out a very specific problem or the desire to stop repeating self-defeating patterns of behavior.

Psychotherapy outcome research consistently points to the quality of the relationship between a psychotherapist and patient being the most important factor facilitating change. Thus, the foundation of Dr Milburn's therapeutic approach relies on establishing a trusting relationship within the therapeutic encounter whether it is by talking or through play, creating a safe space for personal exploration and change.

Dr Milburn will work collaboratively with you to help recognise and use your own strengths, resources, and knowledge to bring about change. As work progresses, the aims of the therapy will be reviewed

frequently, thus making each step of therapy open and sensitive to your needs.
